Meet Erin!

Erin Machen, LAC, RYT® 200

Hi, I’m Erin! (She/Her)

I am a psychotherapist and Ayurvedic yoga teacher curious about what it means to be human and passionate about empowering individuals to find wholeness and live with confidence.

During my time in graduate school, I became fascinated by the mind-body connection, how trauma is embodied (stored in our bodies), and the power of brain and body -based modalities as a means for healing trauma. This led me to pursue more trainings such as yoga and Brainspotting.

I believe that we all experience trauma to some degree through our life experiences, which fractures our connection with ourselves, the world, and each other. This leads to distress and disease in the body, heart, mind, and society.

My role as a therapist is to help clients reconnect with lost parts of themselves so that they can also relate to others and their environment in a healthier way. I view my clients as the expert of their own lives; I believe everyone possesses an inner wisdom that knows what they need. I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy and consider the mind, body, and spirit of my clients. I use an integrative approach to therapy, using a combination of Brainspotting, parts-work, and mind-body work with my clients.

My role as a yoga teacher is similar. I guide clients to connect with their bodies through movement, breathwork, and meditation. My yoga teaching is based on the Dosha system in Ayurveda and aimed at achieving balance and reducing problematic symptoms. I believe (and research shows that) yoga and mindfulness are powerful tools to improve emotion regulation, mood, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and overall well-being.
